<note>Many power outages do in the area - the area in rotation. This is done because of a power outage load capacity has exceeded the predetermined capacity. However, the electrical energy supplied by PLN to consumers do not always go well, at any time - could be extinguished. So it is necessary alternate source of electrical energy. In this thesis discussed the design of Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) based microcontroller which is used as a power source controller backup in case of power outage from PLN. This research used a battery capacity of 12 Volt / 6A as the main source of power backup. While the load used in this research is a 3-phase motors with a capacity of 380 Volt / 0.5HP. From the results of testing tools On systems Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is applied to the electrical electrical engineering lab was able to work well when a blackout from PLN. It can be seen that when the load of the electric motor 3 phase did not receive the supply from PLN, then automatically UPS mem¬backp-up power supply for 3 seconds with an output voltage of the voltage 215.5Vac which initially amounted to PLN 228.5Vac. Surely deterioration in the instantaneous voltage is no significant impact on the performance of 3 phase motors for the ATS system immediately move from an uninterruptible power supply using the supply comes from the battery so that stabilizing the output voltage of the inverter for 230.2Vac.</note>
